This 1967 Navy documentary explores the development of nuclear power in the United States Navy.
Part 1 begins with nuclear research during World War II, and concludes with the record-breaking exploits of USS Nautilus (SSN-571), the world’s first nuclear submarine.
Part 2 continues with successive generations of nuclear submarines and surface warships, including the around the world cruise of the all-nuclear Task Force One, in Operation Sea Orbit.
Part 3 concludes the film, with a breakdown of the advantages of nuclear power over oil, and combat footage of aircraft from USS Enterprise (CVAN-65) during the Vietnam War.
