Japanese Surrender in Color

Friday, September 2, 2011 12:30 AM

This color film of the Japanese Surrender was taken on 2 September 1945 by Commander George F. Kosco, USN. In 2010, the Kosco family restored the film and kindly presented the NHHC with a copy of the film. Original film is silent.

  • What an amazing piece of history we have the honor of witnessing. The sacrifice that all of the Armed Forces have made over the years is not lost on me. I am thankful to everyone who has served and would like to thank the Kosco family for providing us with this incredible recording of such a historic moment.
